iPhone 3G India not but a flop show…
Hey guys i can not find the price in airtel website and also in provided link. I think Airtel did not finalise the price still we can have a hope.
check this out ,, http://www.airtel.in/iphone3g/getready.html# .. for ur info 16gb is available for 32k in grey.. and even for 31 airtel and vodafone are locking their phones to their network
32k for 16 GB in Grey ? I am sure it must be first-gen iPhone and not iPhone 3G.
BULLSHIT! man apple should look into this these telecom companies just cant put their own prices…
it was atleast fair to price it at 15 to 20,000 this is just rediculous.. steve jobs if yu are listening this is a bad move man!
Checked the airtel pricing just four hours before and am really sad that the phone is just unsubsidized and not unlocked!
i also got an sms from vodafone saying it is priced at 31,000 it should have atleast been 15,000-18000
5mp camera, flash, java and flash support, 8gb memory, vid rec@30fps, not locked to any network, unlimited software, excellent GPS - N95 -Rs.25000
2mp camera, no flash, no video recording, locked to either airtel or vodafone, limited software, no java or flash support, bad GPS(not capable of turn by turn support) - iPhone - Rs.31000
WTF!!! HAS THE WORLD GONE CRAZY!!!
HOW CAN STUFF LIKE THIS BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN???
WHAT R WE PAYING SO MUCH MONEY FOR??
I am with you Amit but I have iphone 2g with me which I bought from USA & it is awesome if you find your relevant apps for your iphone
Guys, some EMI plans might be announced today by either airtel or vodafone.
@Dev,
Again this Srinath Babu (SSS)
As per above comment is ture,You any source for this or this aslo only rumr…
Pl.reply me to mail or here pl. i want to buy this pl..
@Amit,
Absolutely right dude, 31,000 for iPhone in India is just rip off knowing the fact that we won’t be able to use its most of the promising features like 3G, GPS, Video Calling etc..
Also if Airtel & Vodafone are not subsidizing iPhone then they do not have any right to lock it to there network.
I don’t understand why Apple is selling iPhone directly from Apple store?
Why not buy N95 or HTC touch Diamond for lesser price and for the features that we can use.
iPhone is damn good but for those who can use all its not features, for indian customers 31K is definitely rip off.
I will be flop slow. apple kept ihis cost 25 or less
It wil effect cost market
WTF!!!
31000?? It’z 21000 fo da 16gb from usa…..
And 36100 in India???
That’z wat’z bullshit…….
Airtel has just updated the 3GiPhone section with this - To get your iPhone on priority, visit one of the select Airtel stores & confirm your booking by paying Rs 5000 on August 20 or 21. You will get an appointment to collect your iPhone after paying the balance amount.
@Dev,
I think they will get 4 to 5 guys to buy on this price ?
If not 6 to 7 that it ?
hey.. ws checkin d Vodafone site.. http://www.vodafone.in/iphone wen i suddenly noticed that they have removed the prices from the main iphone page, which were present till yesterday. are they reviewing the prices…??????
Hey Amit.. I am waiting for airtel.in to update their website. If there is a change in the pricing, I guess Airtel will also change. Lets wait for airtel.in’s updation. I am anyways going ahead with my decision to buy 3G tomorrow morning. I have just fallen in love with iPhone. Have been using 1st gen from past 8months now and want to upgrade to 3G, desperately.
Dev,
I got it from the midnight launch in bangalore and its truly gr8! But if you have a 1st Gen phone with 2.0 firmware then the only difference between this and the older model is the 3G Chip addition.
So, its up to you to buy it but you won’t find any major difference between this and older model (if you were running 2.0 i.e.)

Chill guys, the problem is not with Apple. I bet coz in US n all other countries it was the network providers who give the subsidized phone and lower the prices. Apple has nothing to do with fixing the prices on handsets. Coming to the 3G and other stuff, did Apple block the access to them in anyway. Nope, it was the poor infrastructure of the 3G network policy over there in India.
Well in US the call charges or so expensive and u get even charged for incoming , lucky guys u won’t get charged for incoming in India and outgoing is really cheap when compared to the universal charges.
Just it’s the problem with the carriers and the dot for not releasing the 3G Spectrum for public use. I nowhere see the problem with Apple in any segment.
And finally it’s our own option to buy the phone and none forcing to buy the iPhone 3G.
SEAN You said Right.
Will it succed in India?
India is a country with huge demand for the phones. The production is too few compared to the demand. These guys will not be able to meet the demand here. So, they are targetting the creamy layer here now. Once the production comes and initial demand goes down, there will be EMI schemes with some decrease in price. I think Iphone won’t worth 31000 comparing the features provided. Chill out guys.
Hey Dude, Well I see some market for iPhones in India if we sacrifice a few like 3G, iTunes ,GPS n so on. Well I need no need for GPS in India AFAIK. Well in my view price is a bit expensive but have nuts who buy those. If the price is a bit flexible I see almost many ppl go for that.
Guys, do u have any idea on guarantee in India for iphone 3G? I just wanna know in US if u have a problem go 2 the near by apple store and u get the phone replaced for free. I don’t know whether this system works in India r not.
Dev,
Any updated about apple sell in india,
Any chances of get less price.
Hey SSS.. nothing from airtel or voda. no EMI either. I picked up 3G this morning. had to pay full 31k.
Dev,

Hi Dev
R u going to unlock or jailbreak your iphone 3G?Pls share some experience when you plan to do this.
No Mario, I am not going to JB my 3G. I am getting everything that ever wanted in iPhone with this legal iPhone 3G.
Vodafone & Airtel are going to be coming up with an EMI scheme for iPhone 3G very. News on Rediff - Vodafone, which is offering the iconic Apple iPhone in India along with Airtel, has tied up with Axis Bank and Barclays to offer the phone on six or 12 equated monthly installments (EMIs) for customers who may find the Rs 31,000 to Rs 36,000 price tag too steep.

Hi, Tech2.com has covered Vodafone’s EMI plans for iPhone 3G - http://www.tech2.com/india/news/mobile-phones/vodafone-looking-at-installment-scheme-to-sell-iphone/45581/0
Here is the brief - “Vodafone is talking to Barclays and ICICI Bank for introducing two monthly schemes for six and 12 months,” the person requesting anonymity told IANS Friday.

http://cellpassion.mobi/2008/08/23/vodafone-slashes-iphone-3g-prices-in-india.aspx
What about AIRTEL Pl. try some info.
Hey SSS. I checked with Vodafone cus.support Bangalore. There is no discount on 3G yet, its still 31k. I dont know why these websites including times of india spreading unconfirmed news.
Dev, vodafone store in bangalore IS giving discount of 2000 rupees. So its not a rumour or unconfirmed news!!!!!!
I checked again Abhishek, thanks.. this time the CSR confirmed on the discount.
Dev,
The new mobile is coming with 26 days,It is iphone killer pl.check below web& Pl.give some info if possi.. Pl.
http://www.the01phone.com/
And,
How univercell website is showing price of 8 gb iphone is Rs.29808 ???
This one looks awesome. Here is more on this - http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/08/24/the-01-phone-coming-in-27-days-wait-what-is-the-01-phone/
Hi all
So, finally comapny understood mindset and problem of common man of not want to spend such a big amount of Rs. 31000/36000 to buy an iphone and made it available through EMI with tying up with few banks. I saw this info on iphone section of airtel site (http://www.airtel.in/iphone3g)
Rajesh
Thanks for this info Rajesh. I check it out as well - http://www.airtel.in/iphone3g/iphoneemi.html. SBI, ICICI and HDFC. Pretty reasonable EMI. It works out to ~31k for 8GB + around ~10% extra(call it processing fee). So you end up paying around 3k more. I think this is reasonal.
screw iphone 3g……for 34k for the 16gb and 29k for the 8gb…its not worth it!!…..rather than that its better not to take it….lets put it on hold for a while….as it is it lacks basic features like msg fowarding….etc…all these can no doubt be obtained by loading the apps…but guys do keep in mind the price that u will pay for that in india…vodafone must have not even sold close 2 50 phones…..so screw u vodafone for overpricing….if its aroung 13-25k…u will get heavy sales…its upto vodafone if they want small sales n higher prices…or bigger volumes and lower prices…but also keep in mind the accesories that u purchase can also be cashed in on once people purchase the iphone 3g…decision is yours
Hey Chinmay.. the fact that vodafone and airtel couldn’t reduce the price of iPhone in India was because Apple had clearly instructed them not to reduce the price. The pricing is controlled directly by Apple. This information was shared by Vodafone, country head - India on CellGuru program that comes NDTV.
ok…then its f9…cannot help it…no1 will purchase at these levels…even with the existing problems…also its well worth it if its unlocked and purchase in usa at 199$ to 300$…well worth it from outside…
its better to get the iphone…frm outside for around 12-20k for the 16gb hack it over here n use it for sometime….rather than purchasing here…then after a year apple will give upgrades for the iphone..which can possibly inculde a flash cam,5mp cam…zoom in & out….msg fowarding…etc…all the rest of the features that lack currently…u can then purchase the iphone 3g 2nd gen in india at that price…if the updates r done…let me know ur views…
@ Dev,
H R U This is sssbabu from B’lore,I got same info about price of iphone in BSLN i.e. BSNL iPhone 3G in India - Pricing Rs 22500?
IS THIS TRUE OR PL. FIND SAME ABOUT THIS PL.
This is news for me SSS.. I am not sure on this. Could you share the link please.
ive never herd of this news….i personally think its still over priced….rather than that get the iphone 3g frm usa or abroad n unlock it using a sim replicator…it has 2 b placed with ur sim card into the tray and it makes ur iphone think its on its own home network…simple n smart!!
