Airtel claims no hacker in the world can crack iPhone 3G

Engadget has this covered this time, saying that India has claimed that no hacked in the world can hack . Here is what it says - “Even the most deadly hackers on the planet won’t be able to crack the codes that support the iPhone’s applications with rival company SIMs.”

Bharti has worked very closely with Apple to develop “OPERATOR-SPECIFIC IPHONE APPLICATIONS”, as mentioned by Engadget.

      hey jax, no this is not Airtel live. Airtel doesn’t send any GPRS setting packets when iPhone 3g is activated. Airtel has this service called ‘teathering’ where your iPhone goes through a 5-10mins teathering process here the operator locked appstore acess is set. I am not sure if this service would work if a hacked iPhone 3g is used in the future. Cos, till now pawnage hasn’t been able to unlock 3G.

            Arun, you are right there is no airtel app on iPhone. I was able to use appstore on one unlocked phone as well. What airtel is talking about is operator locked itunes. When I start itunes, i get a message saying “An update to the carrier settings for your iPhone is available. Woule you like to download it now?”. I accepted that message and things are working well. But I am not sure what happens when one is unlocked iPhone and this message is accepted?
