Why Google’s G1 Android GPhone cannot beat iPhone
Posted on 2008 under iPhone Duniya | 5 CommentsWell, I guess by now, most of us have read quite a bit about much awaited Google’s G1 Android GPhone. There are many who believe that iPhone will lose its market because of Google’s reach and open-source approach. Whereas, iPhone is all about proprietorship and nothing rests with developers. But I believe iPhone cannot be challenged at least for the next 1-2 years minimum. Here is why. I found this interesting article at alleyinsider. Check it out.
GPhone v/s iPhone:

- iPhone has a more polished, intuitive user interface – Google’s Android OS is powerful and looks attractive, but it’s a bit too Windows-like. Apple’s iPhone user interface is simpler, cleaner, and just makes more sense.
- iPhone has multi-touch – Pinching doesn’t work in Google Maps to zoom out on Google’s own phone. HTC and Google simply can’t have multi-touch.
- GPhone’s keyboard is nice but its not useful – Especially since one can’t access Exchange/BlackBerry email accounts. GPhone almost twice as thick as the iPhone?
- Apple’s App Store is a year ahead of Google’s – There are so many apps that we’ve downloaded, especially professionally produced games, and how much time we spend using them. There is no info about partnerships with any gaming company or other big gaming shops. Google’s Android App Store will be sparse at the beginning, and will take a while to fill out.
- Syncing the iPhone to your computer is a breeze – Music comes from iTunes, photos from iPhoto, etc. Google won’t have an iTunes-like desktop syncing app, and instead will sync up with Google’s various Internet-based services.
- Google’s GPhone comes with a tiny percentage of the memory, just 1 GB - iPhone comes with 8/16 GB.
Alley Insider has this cool little video which shows G1’s free Pac-Man game that comes built-into the GPhone.

Hmm, he forgot to mention that the iPhone can't multitask and the gPhone can. On the iPhone try talking to someone on the phone (with Bluetooth) while looking something up on the browser, not gonna happen. Plus anyone can make an app for the gPhone, but you have to get 'approval' to make an app for the iPhone.
fail

lol G1 HAS multitouch. The operating system just doesnt support it yet. Look up on youtube. xda developers have proved multitouch and they are “pinching” in the videos. They will make an app/ update that will allow pinching soon. G1 apps arnt overpriced and it will launch games that are more capable than iphone soon enough. (Games that involve more than touch and tilt. G1 actually has a keyboard.) “syncing” is the same thing as plug in iphone with usb and drag/drop stuff to itunes then convert. takes lots of time. G1 is just plug in drag and drop without need of itunes. you can buy a 16GB microSD memory card on G1 (already available in stores/online) and it will have more memory than iphone. And when the memory for SD cards get bigger, it will outlast iphone.Whats point of having a “polished” “thin” phone if it cant operate well. The iphone can’t do anything but touch and tilt. So little possibilities and so little functionality. And if you think that the real deal keyboard isnt useful, then you obviously don’t text, or just cant think of anything else to make G1 look bad so you resort to illegitmate claims. OWNED.
Thanks for sharing your experience with Gphone.
. We are like this only.. Crazy about iPhone and Apple.
But we are all iPhone fans… as you mentioned in the first sentence
Nothing stops us…
Heh, you fanboys are funny.
From a semi-technical perspective; from a person that actually “has” both phones ( and not just going by what the internet says… or my own personal bias
) – you got me on multi-touch and the app store, but that’s about it. The rest of your so-called “facts” are pure rubbish lmao.
I don’t want to be stuck with an iphone 8/16 GB uniform when I can go out and spend (OH NOES) 20 bucks to get a 32GB for my gphone (I have it in there right now
).
AT&T does have a better G3 Network (best in the US) for now, but once T-Mobile expands and crushes the AT&Tz, the GPhone’s superior syncing process and all-around faster browser and internet service will take the iphone off the market.
Polished, intuitive interface? LOL XD Sure, it does look pretty, I’ll give you that. Like onea those girls on the corner that has an STD – but she sure does look pretty!
If you think the GPhone’s keyboard is useless… look at the iphone keyboard LoL!
“trefighter2334@aol.com” – my email… let’s try and type that on the iPhone! “ttfefgter3334 (lets travel ALLLL the way to the @ sign) @aolcom.
Ah, uselessness personified: buy an iPhone
