Do you need Screen Protection for your iPhone? No Way!

Loading ...Did you know that iPhone screen is completely Scratch Proof? I guess you don’t want to take any chance. But believe me, iPhone screen is made out of a 100% scratch free material. I have been using iPhone 3G from quite sometime and don’t have any scratch what so ever on the screen. In fact I found this dicussion thread on Apple Forum which re-iterates the same point:
- You don’t need a screen protector, in fact a lot of the Apple Geniuses don’t use one. I use the Power Support crystal film, I like having it on. You don’t even see it when applied right. You never know when Murphy’s Law kicks in.
- Honestly you really don’t need a screen protector. But if you tend to have coins or keys in the same pocket, then you’d have to be careful, but if you are careful with your iphone, then you don’t need a screen protector.
- Have had my iphone for over 14 months. never used a screen protector and have no scratches on my screen. I will tell you that, although I keep it in my pocket all day long, I don’t keep it in a pocket with my keys. You might want to avoid coins too. Otherwise, i find the screen to be very durable, unlike my Palm screen.

Thanks for sharing http://www.zagg.com, Tanja.. Your experience would help all of us to be a bit more careful with our iPhones.
I’ve heard plenty of people that didn’t have these issues, so I guess I’m just that exception to the rule
It is still a tiny scratch, but I don’t want it to get worse, so I ordered the protection thing from http://www.zagg.com. I guess it would also be less bad if the scratch was a bit more to the side, but it’s right in the middle, argh!
It is still much better than my Palm screens though. I wouldn’t have dared putting those in my pocket
And the back is compelety scratch free
Sad to hear this Tanja… I have been using iPhone without any protection screen from quite sometime now, I made sure that I dont have any keys in my pocket as well. I just checked again, I dont have any scratch yet.
Good that you ordered the protection screen. I guess I should start advising my blog followers to start protecting their iphone screens too.
I’d love to agree, but after only having my iphone 3G for 3 months, not only did I get a little annoying scratch (ok, ‘just’ about 3 mm), the scratch got worse (as in, wider!) within days
I’ve just ordered a protection thingy, cause I can actually see my scratch now
Makes me sad as I made sure I didn’t have anything else in my pocket but I still got scratches.

As much as i’d like to agree with the above… It is not true… I bought the 3G a couple of months ago and have been using it without a cover. There are definitely scratches visible on the screen. And alot more on the back side….
I have not dropped my phone even once.
