Macrumors had confirmed the Street view feature in the 2.2 firmware release earlier this week. And now AppleInsider confirms few more cool features – Public transit & Walking directions. Apple is testing a few cool features in iPhone, bringing Street Views, Public Transit options and also location sharing features. More on this:

Public Transit Directions
iPhoneYap has posted an extensive screenshot gallery from iPhone Software 2.2 beta 2, released Friday, which offers a walkthrough and detailed descriptions of the new features.

Street View
Meanwhile, Street views on the iPhone will let you view street-level photographs, just as they would at maps.google.com. To activate the feature, iPhoneYap reports that you simply need to “drop a pin or click a searched location to get the tooltip to popup from the pin.”

Location Sharing
One final feature noticed in the new version of Maps is location sharing. Selecting the “Share Location” option of an address will auto-fill an email with a hyperlink to the location, which will automatically launch and load in Maps application of the recipient, assuming they too have an iPhone.

Here are few initial screenshots shared by iPhoneYap:

How do you get Street View?
Assuming you’re in an area that has it, drop a pin or click a searched location to get the tooltip to popup from the pin.
If you see a orange face-like button as shown here, click it to enter Street View.

Hey SD, even though I have an US iTunes account, I cannot download apps via that account. Since I have paired my Indian iTunes store user details, I can only sync Indian apps. Sorry about this.

Is your iPhone jailbroken? Are you on 1st gen iPhone?

You might be right. But in the past, I have seen more than 4-5 apps that appear have appeared in Indian Store after 1-4 days. To name a few – Custom sound of nature, Firemail, Freshbooks, Luxtouch.
But I might be wrong in this Google Earth timing.

na yaar, mostly the apps as soon as available on US Store are avaialble in Indian Store too…say within 1-2 minutes but Google Earth is only available in 20 countries so far and no clue when will be available in Indian Store.
But as its free why they dint just made it available all app stores?

                    Hi SD,
Google Earth is available on US iTunes. Usually google apps appear on Indian Store within 2-3days after US iTunes launch.
Lets wait for 2-3days and then check Indian iTunes ac. Hopefully it appears here as well.

Hi, I have been using this awesome invention called the Apple iPhone from November 2007 and have gone nutzzz over it. Nuts to an extent that I started this blog which talks just about iPhone and nothing else.

This blog of mine has been getting tremendous response and is being followed by all kinds of mobile phone users from all over the globe. Most of the traffic comes from the US and Europe. Thank you all for making this blog a success :)
