A Miami resident recently took a short trip to France and used his iphone to check his email and send text messages. To his surprise upon his return he received a data usage bill to the tune of $4190.76!!!! His friends made this video for him using a scan of the ACTUAL bill. Next time u go on a trip to Europe, leave your Iphone at home!
And here is how not to get this bill ever in your name:
The tips for international data usage recommended by AT&T are:
- Turn Data Roaming “OFF” via Settings>General>Network>Data Roaming
- Use Wi-Fi Instead of 3G, GPRS or EDGE via Settings>Airplane Mode to “OFF” and select Wi-Fi to “ON” is an extra safety message to turn of the cellular radio
- Turn Fetch New Data “OFF” via Settings>Fetch New Data Change Push to “OFF” and Select to Fetch Manually
- Consider purchasing one of AT&T’s International Data Packages
- Reset the iPhone Usage Tracker to Zero – to track your actual usage Settings>General>Usage>Reset
