Jajah turns the iPod Touch into an iPhone

After truphone brough VoIP (phone call via internet) to iPod Touch, its now the turn of Jajah, another VoIP provider. Jajah has been competing with other Internet calling applications such as Skype, announced a new application that will allow iPod Touch users to call and text messages using a voice over IP network instead of a carrier’s cellular network. Marketwire.com has more on how this works:

The new capability, available as a white label solution, enables carriers as well as non-carriers to launch the service under their own brand and provide their customers with the ability to make low-cost phone calls and send SMS text messages to any phone in the world from their iPod touch. To use the service, end users only require an iPod touch and a Wi-Fi connection, with no need for a SIM card or contract.

Here is what Jajah has to say – All that is needed to start making calls is the Jajah application, the latest version of the iPod Touch, a microphone headset, and a Wi-Fi connection.
