AWESOME. I just started testing this 3.0 OS on my iPhone 3G. Its response time is definitely faster. The Spotlight works damn well. I just MMS’ed, it works beautifully with my Airtel SIM. Too cool. Let me quickly share this MMS screenshot:

Tethering works on Airtel as well. Smooth :) ). I can now tether my iPhone 3G with my Laptop using the same Airtel connection. And the best thing about these great features is that I dont have to pay even a single paisa (penny) to Airtel :) . No extra charges for MMS and nothing for Tethering. But I will be paying for the data download. BTW, here is my iPhone-Dell Laptop tethering screenshot:

Its very simple to activate iPhone tethering. Go to your iPhone > Setting > General > Network and switch on iPhone tethering. You can choose either Bluetooth or USB connectivity. Once this is done pair your iPhone with your Laptop via bluetooth or just connect the USB cable. You are done. iPhone was start tethering within 10-30 seconds. And you will be able surf using iPhones EDGE/3G connection :) . AWESOME!!!

Thanks Airtel, you guys are just awesome. Much much better than those AT&T guys in the US. Sorry AT&T.

Let me now explore this 3.0 OS…. Will get soon.. Namaste!!!

Are you sure you have updated to 3.0 Firmware? This feature is only available on 3.0 SW update.

That is the problem I also faced but after calling Cust. Service and asking them to enable MMS for my account, it started working properly. I recommend you talk with cust. service.

Rohit, download AP news or BeeJive or Tap Tap Revenge and you would get the Push notication option.

I think you will have to Download AP news or BeeJive or Tap Tap Revenge. Once you download one of these kind of apps, Push Notification will be featured in Settings > App Name.

But I am not too sure.
Let me check it and get back

I tried to send a MMS from the send message option but that was not happening.
Moreover i read this on the apple website
In Settings, tap Messages, then tap MMS Messaging to turn it on or off. You may want to turn MMS Messaging off, for example, to prevent sending or receiving attachments when fees apply.

NOTE: The MMS Messaging setting doesn’t appear if MMS isn’t supported by your carrier.

So thats what is happening there is no option to switch MMS on/off.
I’ll speak to a vodafone executive and check later on.

Hey Gaurav, the MMS option in iPhone 3.0 OS is inbuilt. Just hit the messages icon. Choose to send an message and you will see a camera icon before the text field and send button. When you hit that camera icon you can take a photo and MMS it to anyone.

You will have to just activate MMS service from your Vodafone service provider.

Since its there in Airtel, I am sure this will be present in Vodafone as well.

Hey saad.. I am running on a 500mb/mo mode currently. This offer will expire in August. But there is no tethering charges from Airtel, you will be charged per MB if it exceeds 500mb per month. I am not going to be using this feature often. Only when I am on the move, I might use this feature. Most of the time my iphone replaces my laptop when I am on the move. iPhone can do everything what a laptop or a netbook can do I believe.

Once this 500mb offer expires in Aug, I will move to Rs.580/mo (US$12/mo) unlimited data bandwidth mode with Airtel.
