19-year-old Geohot Jailbreaks iPhone 3GS [UPDATE]

Someone named Geohot has found a method to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS. iClarified shared this bit of news – Details of the exploit are still being gathered; however, it looks like GeoHot was able to insert a custom command to iBoot meaning sigchecks have been bypassed (thanks mav). This should be a start for the iPhone 3GS (N88AP) jailbreak which has been dubbed purplera1n.

The really good news is that if the jailbreak is successful the UltraSn0w unlock should be compatible with the iPhone 3GS as well.

Hacker George Hotz appears to have found a way to jailbreak and unlock the iPhone 3GS.

The 19-year-old Hotz, better known as GeoHot, may have found a hole in the iPhone 3GS boot sequence, which will allow hackers to unlock the device.

He was the first man who unlocked iPhone 2G 1.0.2 though it was a hardware and software unlock still he was the first. Also he founds the exploit in bootloader 5.8 to downgrade baseband of 3G iPhone.
