First iPhone 3GS Specific App Launched – Metal Detector
Posted on 2009 under AppStore, Free Apps, iPhone Apps | 1 CommentI think ‘Metal Detector’ app is going to be the first iPhone app that is made to work for iPhone 3GS. Metal Detector app uses information obtained from the iPhone’s compass to estimate the strength of the observed magnetic field, and then detects increases in strength that occur when the iPhone is placed near a ferromagnetic metal (like steel or iron). Cool idea.
Many metals contain oxides (like magnetite or lodestone) which can cause measurable variations in the readings of a magnetic compass.
Give it a try. The price of this app has just been dropped from $0.99 to zero. Here is the App Store link to download from iTunes.

FYI: I checked around 11AM EST and this wasn’t listing as free, it seems to have went back to the $0.99 price.
