JoinMe iPhone app answers the question – Where are you?
Posted on 2009 under AppStore, Free Apps, MustHaveApp, iPhone Apps | 1 CommentJoinMe is an interesting iPhone app developed by mobya which can be used to locate your contacts who have an iPhone as well. Sounds similar to Google Latitude? Actually its pretty different in functionality, it sends an invitation which can be accepted or declined and once the request has been accepted, users can follow the radar to find the person, making it useful for connecting with friends at the mall or to keep tabs on locations of children. Pretty cool concept. You will need have a 3.0 firmware for this app to work, though:
JoinMe – Free [App Store]
Have you ever been waiting for someone and wondered if they were close by or how long it’d be till they arrived? No more intrusive calls and boring text message like “Almost there !!”.
JoinMe allows you to track the person you’re waiting for in real time, see how far they are and how fast they’re walking/running/driving to meet you. JoinMe is very simple to use–one button only–and respectful of your privacy: the localization request has to be approved before any information is sent; and as soon as one of the two people disconnects information in no longer transmitted.
JoinMe works with the new Apple notification. Choose your contact’s email and they will automaticaly be alerted just like when they receive a text message.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
1. Select the e-mail of the person you’re waiting for from your address book and send them an invitation to connect.
2. They will receive a notification by email and in the JoinMe app if it’s open and can accept or refuse your request.
3. You will be able to share information about distance from each other and speed of each moving person.
