Good News For iPhone Users In The US – iPhone Might Run On GSM And CDMA Networks And Verizon Might Launch It Next Year
Posted on 2009 under Rumors | No CommentSome good news for iPhone users in the US. Everyone in the US knows that AT&T totally sucks, right. Well there is this rumor going around that iPhone might be available onVerizon’s network starting next year. A report by OTR Global has been released where they claim that Apple is seriously considering making the new iPhone that would hybrid Verizon’s CDMA2000 technology along with AT&T’s UMTS 3G network.
Qualcomm’s new hybrid CDMA/WCDMA chip offers the potential for a single, global iPhone that users can take to any major carrier, solving the network fractionalization problem. It also solves other issues that had served as roadblocks, including the issue of user confusion that would result from Apple selling separate CDMA and GSM/UMTS versions of the iPhone.
And more over AT&Ts contract with Apple is rumored to be ending by mid 2010.
The report also claims that the next iPhones will be significantly smaller and will reduce the screen size from 3.1″ to 2.8″. Pretty interesting. Lets wait to June 2010. That’s when Apple comes up with new product launches.[via - AppleInsider]
