53,000 iPhone pre-orders prior to the Korean launch day
Posted on 2009 under iPhone Duniya | No CommentLooks like after a not-so-good China launch last month, iPhone’s arrival in South Korea is generating some real good buzz amongst consumers there. KT Corporation reported 53,000 iPhone pre-orders prior to the Korean launch day. Macrumors has more to this news:
These numbers suggest that the iPhone will be sizable competition for local companies such as Samsung and LG. The current smartphone market in South Korea is estimated to be about 400,000 users as of the end of the 3rd quarter, with the full size of the mobile phone market estimated at 47 million units.
Korean customers love watching live local TV on their phones, but iPhone doesnt support live TV, which looks like a disadvantage. But looking at the pre-order numbers, most of the disadvantages of iPhone might be behind.
