Harvard Business Review names Steve Jobs the World’s Best-Performing CEO
Posted on 2009 under Apple | No CommentThe January-February 2010 edition of Harvard Business Review has place Steve Jobs in the front of Yun Jong-Yong of Samsung Electronics who is second in the rank and has named him the best performing CEO of the world. Yes, HBR has placed Jobs in the top spot for increasing Apple’s market cap to a whopping $150 billion in last 12 years. This news was covered by AppleInsider:
“The #1 CEO on the list, Steve Jobs, delivered a whopping 3,188% industry-adjusted return (34% compounded annually) after he rejoined Apple as CEO in 1997, when the company was in dire shape,” the report said. “From that time until the end of September 2009, Apple’s market value increased by $150 billion.”
Interestingly, Six of the top 10 CEOs came from technology-related companies. Following Jobs were Yun Jong-Yong of Samsung (2), John Chambers of Cisco Systems (4), Jeff Bezos of Amazon (7), Margaret Whitman of Ebay (8) and Eric Schmidt of Google (9). Schmidt was a member of Apple’s board of directors until this summer, when a Federal Trade Commission investigation forced him to resign.
And another CEO in the top 10 ranking, that shouldn’t be missed out is our very Mukesh Ambani. He has been placed at the 5th rank. “Mukesh Ambani heads India’s most valuable company Reliance Industries, has been ranked among top five best performing CEOs in the world by the prestigious Harvard Business Review” reports Yahoo.
