Apple purchases Siri, a free personal assistant app for the iPhone. Should Google be worried?
Posted on 2010 under Apple | No CommentIs Apple thinking of replacing Google from its iPhones and iPod touches? Things havent been going well with Apple and Google of late and Apple seemed to have been thinking of replacing Google from their iPhone OS. Yesterday Apple bought Siri, a company that provides free personal assistance for the iPhone and iPod touch users on the move. Siri integrates a bunch of third-party services such as OpenTable, FlightStats, and Google Maps with voice-recognition technology from Nuance Communications.
Silicon Alley Insider last evening reported that that a Siri representative has confirmed Apple’s acquisition of the company. This was confirmed by MacRumors.
Lets see what Apple does with Siri in coming months. I fear things getting nastier between Apple and Google.
