You can now disable Multitasking on your iPhone 3G – Cydia’s zToggle mod will do it for Free
Posted on 2010 under Cydia, Firmware Versions | 3 CommentszToggle lets you easily enable and disable multitasking and background wallpaper on your jailbroken iPhone 3G. You need to have a Jailbroken iPhone 3G/2G for this to work. With this mod, you wont need to use redsn0w or Pwnagetool to toggle Multitasking and Background Wallpapers anymore. Note that this only works with iPhone 3G.
Toggles for Multitasking and Background Wallpapers. No need to use redsn0w or Pwnage tools to toggle Multitasking and Background Wallpapers. This app will let you do that in seconds right from your iDevice. Note that this app is only for iPhone 3G. Users for other devices like iPod Touch can try but at your own risk
zToggle is created by Razi Iqbal and can be downloaded free from the BigBoss Cydia repository.

Sorry to get multitasking back you un-install the disablemultitasking app.
Anyway just tried it on a coworkers 3gs and her free ram went way up and battery life is holding.
Chris, There is one that works for 3GS and it improves the batterylife quite a bit. Its not a toggle, you install it and multitasking stops. To get back multitasking you have to re-install. Cydia app is called disable multitasking 3gs. You have to install the sinfuliphone repository. Good instructions here. http://webtrickz.com/disable-multitasking-in-ios-4-on-jailbroken-iphoneipod/
Wish this tool worked with the 3GS! Multitasking is eating my battery twice as fast… the only solution I’ve found til now is the one they explain here http://bit.ly/disablemultitask they say it works but i dont know how to use that SSH thing!
