Pocket God could be called the perfect iPhone game that was build by a two man team, a game where users control 6 islanders whose fate is determined by a series of user initiated actions. This post by Venturebeat is a must read for every iPhone game developer out there. Developed by Bolt Creative, Pocket God wasn’t a hit right from the start, but through word of mouth, it quickly moved up the charts with costing just 99 cents. The complete post can be read here:
At the peak, Pocket God was selling about 18,000 copies a day. At 99 cents, that meant $18,000 a day was coming in. At No. 2, the number fell to about 10,000 copies a day. At No. 5, it was 6,000 a day and so on. To this day, Castelnuovo hasn’t met anyone at Apple, which gets a 30 percent cut. He doesn’t begrudge that. After all, at the rate that Pocket God is selling, Castelnuovo is making about twice as much as he did as a consultant.
This video is awesome looking. When I saw this first, I couldnt believe that it might have been shot entirely on an iPhone 3GS. The music video Love Love Love is by Reyna Perez. Directed by Ari Kuschnir; for more on Reyna check out her facebook page:
Reyna was born in Miami, FL in the golden year of 1983, the descendant of Jewish Cuban settlers who founded Cuba’s first synagogue. As would any child with an illustrious path, she developed a passion for musicals, a mild obsession for Barbara Streisand, and an affinity for the soundtrack of Fiddler on the Roof…
DOOM Resurrection was launched yesterday and looks like the whole iPhone world is going GAGA over this game. Developed by id Software, this game is the iPhone version of the original Doom game. Coming to this review, usually Kittu Dhanoa from our forum does a detailed review of interesting games that get launched on App Store. Hey, I would like to thank Kittu for these awesome reviews. Kittu will be reviewing this game very soon. In the meanwhile, Vikas, another dedicated member of our forum has just written an awesome and casual review about DOOM Resurrection. Thanks buddy . Check it out:
In one simple word the game is Fan-DOOM-Tastic. Ok that wasnt one word. But pretty much sums up the marvelous game. Id has done 100% justice to the series. There couldnt be anything more I could ask from an iPhone port of doom(ok maybe multiplayer and those half clad girls in the original game ). I was skeptical about the game as I hadnt read anything about the control scheme. In fact I had assumed it`ll be using an onscreen D-Pad/joystics like the rest of FPS games on iPhone. I hate these d-pads on any iPhone game but still play them as there is no option other than not getting the game in the first place(which is is not really an option either as so many great games are coming out for iPhone. Cant resist at all).
F.A.S.T is an air combat flight simulation program built for iPhone. Fly training skirmishes against simulated pilots to learn flying and dogfighting skills, and test those skills in actual head-to-head combat against other pilots around the world over WiFi internet! Kittu has shared his experience playing this game. His reviews have always been on of the most read reviews on this blog. Thanks again Kittu
That is ‘Fleet Air Superiority Training!’ for you.
Or Fantastic, awesome, stupendous, terrific game as described by ‘Pocket Gamer’.
To say, that FAST is a flight simulator will be wrong. Rather its a ‘air combat flight simulation’ program in which you are thrown in training skirmishes against simulated pilots to learn flying and dogfighting skills & trying to shoot down the enemy pilots.
FAST on iPhone is what the popular game franchise ‘Ace Combat’ was/is for playstation.
When you start the game, you will notice that there are no fancy start up intros except for a brief shot of a plane zooming past your screen with a blazing missile in hot prusuite. No fancy cutshots and no story. Instead you are straightway thrown in the midst of the action. There are total of 30 missions of increasing difficulty from novice to insane. You can choose from a wide variety of planes like F-4, F-15, F-16, Eurofighter 2000, F-22, though initially only 3 planes are available and about 10 unlock able planes, which become available as the game progresses. In the single player mode missions are actually training exercises in which you have to locate and blast your enemy out of the sky.Starting a mission means you are immediately thrown in to a aerial combat scenario with the enemy fighter closing in on to you. Your aim is to destroy the enemy fighters all the while trying to survive yourself , dodging the incoming missiles over variety of ground elements like windswept tundra plains to verdant, volcanic island seascapes. This may sound repetetive, but trust me its not. As more and more planes become available, you will find that each plane handles and maneuvers differently and in order to survive different tactics are required. Your combat arsenal includes radar guided and heat seeking missiles for long-range attack, 20mm miniguns for close-range dog fighting, and flares for dodging in-bound enemy missiles.
Controls are straightforward and simple. Flying & maneuvering is accelerometer based and is handles surprisingly well. Then you have onscreen buttons taking care of firing missiles, accelerating, braking and changing the viewing angle.

Kittu from iPhoneForum has reviewed this game and its worth it. Great job Kittu Check it out:
Peggle for iphone is developed by the creators of hugely popular ‘Bejeweled 2′.The PC version of peggle is already a hit phenomenon and now the game has arrived on iphone in its mobile avatar. Peggle , seems like a mashup of arcade pinball , brick breaking & bubble bashing games. While playing , I felt as if I was transported back to the days, when the only way to play a video game was to go to the local arcade joint – and I still remember our frenzied efforts at pinball machine.Similar kinda frenzy took over me while playing this high quality game.
iBomber is an amazing, arcade styled bombing game based in the Pacific Ocean in 1943 built for iPhone. And this awesome game has been reviewed by our very own Kittu of iPhoneForum. Worth downloading this $2.99 game, I must say. Check it out. Thanks kittu:
ibomber is a very unique top down arcade style shooter game with beautiful amazingly detailed graphics and even better 3D spatial sound track. The music reminds you of typical military band in action – very cool. The Game has a very polished feel to it & visually very nice.
The game is based in Pacific Ocean of 1943. You play as a young bomber pilot protecting your fleet and at the same time completing you missions of destroying enemy fleets/base/depots etc.
If you have been using iPhone and havent have heard of Flight Control, you might have missed one the most addictive game on iPhone in 2009. Flight Control [$0.99, App Store] is the incredibly simple, yet insanely addictive game from Firemint that everyone is talking about. This time I would like to share 2 reviews back to back from our iPhoneForum thread with you all. One has been written by kittudhanoa and the other by ImNoSuperMan (Vikas). Check it out:
I don’t know what to say. This game is so plain and simple. And that’s wherein the whole beauty of this game lies. I am amazed as to how such a simple game can be so devilishly addictive. Yup that’s right , this game is so addictive that I dare you to just play it once. You will not let go. You will find yourself keep coming back because of that simple craving of one more try. Good clean simple graphics.
So what does this game offers? There’s a air field with two runaways (red & yellow)and one helipad. Your job is to land the planes safely and keep the airspace clean. There are different kind of planes which have to be guided on to the correct runaway and helicopters of course have to be guided to the helipad. You Guide the plane by simply drawing a path for that plane to the runaway. You have to ensure that the planes don’t collide with each other.
Kittu of iPhoneForum found this interesting iPhone app called AyeNotes. Worth covering this review – AyeNotes offers the ability to write notes quickly and easily using the most sophisticated templating scheme available on the iPhone/Touch.
Hi again guys,
If like me, (I like to write my daily journal & travel logs) you write many notes on your iphone then you must be using either the bundled notes application or some notes app. App store is full of app notes some of them being paid ones, some lite versions of the paid ones with some restriction or the other and few are available for free also. Well, I tried most of the free ones as I did not feel like shelling out money and I found most of them pretty much standard, some of the apps like younote etc even can take photo and audio notes. But I wanted a notes app for writing and writing conveniently. Three days back , was checking a app called shorthand and found the concept pretty interesting. But the app is for $0.99 and you have to send the notes written in this app to another costlier notes app for saving. While searching came across ‘AyeNotes’. And I was simply bowled over by the simplicity, usefulness of the App and on top of that the app is available for free.
