This rumor is coming from Computerworld which says that Apple’s iSlate will run on Verizon’s CDMA network.
“The tablet will be supported by multiple [mobile] carriers,” said Brian Marshall of Broadpoint AmTech, citing unnamed sources he said were close to the situation. “Verizon and others,” he continued. “Definitely Verizon. I’ve been told that’s a certainty.”

A French site M4Ever is claiming that we might get to see iPhone 4.0 beta as early as 26/27th of this month, when Apple is rumored to be announcing the iSlate. MacRumors covered this rumor and shared this bit of information:
Several of our sources give us two pieces of information concerning the famous Apple tablet: In late January, in addition to its tablet, Cupertino should have a beta of iPhone OS 4, accompanied by an SDK. Our informants also tell us of a “simulator” specifically adapted for the tablet. Evidently, the major novelty of the SDK therefore concerns the interface, making it easier for developers to adapt to different screen resolutions. The new iPhone could also benefit from a higher pixel density.

Apple might plug in 802.11n WiFi in the upcoming 4th Gen iPhone which might be formally launched in this July. Currently 3rd Gen iPhone and iPod touch has the Broadcom BCM4329 chip and is capable of 802.11n but only enabled for the 802.11g. 802.11n is faster than the 802.11g. Gizmodo dug this interesting news yesterday:
A recent Apple job posting talks about such software support might come soon along with some kind of upgrade allowing for 802.11n capabilities in the next gen iPhone, because it’s asking for a Wi-Fi software engineer to join the iPhone team and bring experience in:
• Implementation of 802.11 a/b/g/n & related specifications.
• 802.11i/802.1x Security protocols
• Good understanding of wireless RF technologies & co-existence issues of 802.11 PHYs with other Wireless interfaces like Bluetooth.

What would a 10-Inch Apple iSlate look like? I am sure no one can guess for now. We will have to wait till the 26th of this month, for Apple to unveil the magic called the iSlate (iGuide). Last week, Matt Buchanan of Gizmodo pulled together an exhaustive guide to Apple tablet rumors, an awesome article covering every rumor surrounding the iSlate. As per Matt, iSlate will cost around $800, and will be announced on 26th January 2010, but won’t hit store shelves until March or possibly April.
I have also been saving quite a few iSlate/iTablet concept pictures every time I get to see one over the web. Its high time I pull’em all out and share ‘em with you all
. So, here’s it. Enjoy:

Looks like Apple rejected Google Latitude iPhone app for this very reason. Patently Apple dug up this latest patent application filed by Apple which hints at Apple getting ready to launch a Google Latitude like service on their own, and that too an app that uses a front-facing camera? Two possibilities; an Latitude like app will bring live positions of friends and family and a front-facing camera in iPhone will aid video conferencing between the two. Does this mean the next iPhone might come with front-facing camera too? Check this info from 9to5mac.com:
In Apple’s implementation, it looks like the location data can be carried in an SMS or Instant Message (interesting news in its own right), which can then be opened in the Maps application to show the other person’s location relative to the iPhone user’s. Also, note what appears to be another instance of a front-facing camera on the iPhone image below. We’re calling it now: iPhone 4G (and tablet + maybe iPod touch) get front faing cameras. Who is with us?
Check this patent flow shared by Patently Apple. Click the image to enlarge.

More details of Google Phone is emerging. As most of us know that it will be called the ‘Nexus One’. Yesterday Gizmodo shared the price details of this Google Phone – Nexus One will be offered at an unsubsidized price of $529.99, or at $179.99 with a two-year agreement on T-Mobile.
- Yeah, it’s $530 unsubsidized. Google’s not going to be selling the phone at cost, like so many people considered. They’re not going to save us from the “making money off of hardware” culture we’ve got right now, so this is basically just another Android handset, albeit a really good one
- If you want it subsidized, you’ll have to sign up for a 2 year mandatory contract and pay $180 for the phone
Check out this leaked order page of Nexus One:

T-Mobile will reportedly offer only a single rate plan for the Nexus One, with unlimited talk, text, and web for $79.99 per month. Subsidized handset pricing is apparently only available to individual subscribers, and family plan and FlexPay subscribers and other special accounts will be required to purchase the Nexus One at the unsubsidized price. After Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey talked about a new iPhone accessory called the ‘Square‘ iPhone Payment System that could turn your iPhone into a cool credit card reader, it was the turn of VeriFone which announced PAYware Mobile, a combination of iPhone and iPod touch app that would accept credit card payment via a swipe card reader that is is attached to the iPhone or iPod touch. I had covered the story earlier this month titled ‘Want To Accept Credit Card Payments On Your iPhone? You Now Have 2 Options – Square & PAYware‘.

And now there is another player entering this iPhone credit card reader space. Known primarily for their battery packs and cases, Mophie is going to enter a whole new market; the credit card readers for the iPhone. TechCrunch covered this interesting article. Here is what Mophie had to say:
Marking its first combination hardware and private label iPhone application device, mophie is launching its innovative new credit card reader, empowering users to complete financial transactions on the go.
Looks like this iPhone credit card reader space is going explode very soon.
