If you want to read the latest editions of U.S. News, Playboy, Men’s Health, Macworld, Car and Driver or Penthouse without spending a dime, you got to checkout Zinio’s iPhone Web App. Zinio had launched an iPhone version way back in May 2008. I expected it to get subscribsion based within a month of two. But when I checked out this web app on my iPhone last evening, it was still free. On Zinio’s website, subscription to each of those mags cost $5.
To start accessing this great web app - Hit www.zinio.com/iphone on your iPhone now.

Google was the first big corp that jumped the iPhone bandwagon. Google came up with quite a few iPhone optimized web apps such as google search, reader, iGoogle, news etc. Then can Yahoo. Yahoo optimized its web interface for iPhone and also came up with a iPhone friendly social networking web app called ‘OneConnect’.
And now arch rival Microsoft has started building iPhone apps. Macnn has reported that MS is building a voice controlled search app called “Tellme voice-activated search” for iPhone. As per Macnn - the service allows users to vocalize their search terms, which are combined with GPS information to find the closest listings. Movie information, including showtime listings, can be retrieved through Fandango; sports, weather, driving and travel information represent some of the other focuses.
Tellme will be adapted for the iPhone’s unique interface, probably through use of a large virtual button to initiate voice, says senior Tellme director Dariusz Paczuski.

I used to look for websites which publish the storm and hurracane movements when these storms move toward the US through Gulf of Mexico. Since I have few friends in Florida and Texas, I used to be a bit worried during these hurricane seasons. Its been bad post Kathrina.
Well here is an iPhone friendly website http://i.wund.com, which can help people looking for the movements of these storms like the Tropical Storm Gustav. Found this on TUAW. Thanks TUAW.

Just in time for the first really scary hurricane of the season, Weather Underground is providing an iPhone-specific version of their mobile site that includes a tropical storm tracker. The mobile site URL is http://i.wund.com, and the tropical storm page can be accessed directly at http://i.wund.com/tropical.

Google has this amazing new service. It has created a mobile version of its Translation service exclusively for iPhone. This service works just like the desktop version. Type a word or a sentence, choose a language you want to translate and Google does the rest. This works on iPhone’s Safari browser and CNET has this covered as well. Here is the excerpt:
The whole thing works using the iPhone’s Safari browser, which means that you need a data connection to use the service. But once you’ve searched for a word or phrase, it’s stored in the iPhone’s memory and can be accessed again without a data connection. Of course, you’re most likely to use this service when you’re abroad, so you will incur roaming data charges. Google wouldn’t quantify how much data is used, except to say that it is ‘minimal’, so hopefully your phone bill won’t be too high when you get home.

To start using this great service from Google - go to http://google.com on your iPhone, click on ‘More’ in the menu and then on ‘Translate‘.
