Apple PR today clearly announced (via CNN) that it will not distribute porn or any other inappropriate content through App Store - From Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr:
Apple will not distribute applications that contain inappropriate content, such as pornography. The developer of this application added inappropriate content directly from their server after the application had been approved and distributed, and after the developer had subsequently been asked to remove some offensive content. This was a direct violation of the terms of the iPhone Developer Program. The application is no longer available on the App Store.
This puts a full stop to Hottest Girls iPhone app. Bye bye.. and bye in advance to all future soft porn apps that were planning to go live on App Store.
This $1.99 photo manipulation app called 3D Camera can help you create 3D photos out of your previously captured photos in the camera app. Those 3D photos can be then shared with friends on Facebook and Twitter. This is how this app works - First, take two photos with the built-in camera or choose two images from your iPhone photo album. Then, view your 3D photo as a grey or color anaglyph (using common red/cyan 3D glasses), a stereogram (no glasses required), or as a wigglegram for a simulated 3D effect. Here is the App Store link for those who would want to download and try it out.
FEATURES:
- Enhanced camera that makes it easy to take two side-by-side photos
- Ability to send 3D photos to Facebook and Twitter (using Twitpic) to share with friends
- Transparent camera overlay for quick image alignment
- Grey and color anaglyph creation
- Stereogram support for photos that don’t require 3D glasses
- Wigglegram mode for a fun, simulated 3D effect
- Option to save the 3D image to your photo album for later use
- Button to swap the original photos
- Integrated instruction screen
There was a small security flaw in iPhone Touch 2G, an exploit known as 24Kpwn which was first discovered by iPhone Dev Team that helped them to release redsn0w tool and jailbroke that PMP. And now the same sort of is used to update ultrasn0w for iPhone 3GS. The team believe that the iPhone 3GS’ boot-rom was finalized in roughly August 2008, so the emergence of 24Kpwn earlier in 2009 did not affect it.
About 5 hours ago (Thursday evening, less than a week after the 3GS launch), we were able to verify that the 24Kpwn exploit that the hybrid team used on the iPod Touch 2G is still present in the bootrom of the iPhone 3GS. That means we can apply the same sort of technique used by our current redsn0w tool to jailbreak and unlock the iPhone 3GS.
Using a similar technique, the team is developing a jailbreak and an unlock tool for the new iPhone generation. Cool stuff. Lets wait and watch. Hope to see ultrasn0w for iPhone 3GS very soon
The first iPhone porn app Hottest Girls [$1.99, App Store] wasnt available on App Store for a day or so after being approved by Apple. Blogs like Cultofmac and TechCrunch reported this news stating that Apple has again blocked these kind of apps after approving them. Note this Cultofmac post:
The softcore app, Hottest Girls, was downloadable for a few hours on Thursday, but is now unavailable. Neither Apple nor the developer were immediately available to provide an explanation, but it appears Apple changed its mind after the app received so much press attention on Thursday.
And then there were slew of updates, stating that Hottest Girls app wasnt removed by Apple at all. The developer of this porn app actually thanked the image server for serving so many requests. They said that the App is still working who had downloaded it.
“The server usage is extremely high because of the popularity of this app,” says the developer. “Thus, by not distributing the app, we can prevent our servers from crashing.” The app still works for those who have already bought it, the developer says.
The app was available on App Store some time back. But again I am not able to find this app on US iTunes. Crazy. Here is the App Store link.
The app is called AirCoster 3D [$0.99, App Store] -Its is an existing application that allows users to design and ride 3D roller coasters on their iPhones and iPod touches. The video below shows how a prototype version takes advantage of the iPhone 3GS’s digital compass. Damn Cool!!!
Note from the Developer: The current and next version of AirCoaster 3D are OS 2.2.1 and OS 3.0 compatible, and so will not be able to take advantage of the 3G S’s compass. The version after that (v2.6) will be OS 3.0 only (but will still work on all iDevices) and will have the compass/accelerometer feature shown in this video… check the youtube profile of ziconic2009.
iPhone 3GS video uploads to youtube has increased by more than 400%, i.e., the daily uploads via mobile phones. Awesome. However Google also mentions that the spike generated by the release of the iPhone 3GS is also the acceleration of a trend that has seen the upload rate grow by 1700% over the past six months.
This growth represents three things coming together: new video-enabled phones on the market, improvements to the upload flow when you post a video to YouTube from your phone, and a new feature on YouTube that allows your videos to be quickly and effortlessly shared through your social networks. It takes just a minute to connect your YouTube account to your Facebook, Twitter and Google Reader accounts. Complete a simple, one-time connection on our upload page to allow all your friends and followers to get a real-time stream of your uploads to YouTube, which can be essential in this age of citizen reporting and ubiquitous sharing.
iPhone Jailbreak specialist ZodTTD has released this video showing a PlayStation emulator called psx4iphone running on iPhone 3GS. Note that this iPhone 3GS is not jailbroken. Here is what Zod had to say:
I now have psx4iphone running very speedy on the 3GS. It’s at the point where Final Fantasy 7 is fullspeed at very least without sound. The build is rough around the edges, as you can’t switch games without restarting the emulator, and only memory card saves are currently working, no save states just yet. Both these issues are being worked on.
Technologic Overkill will be recorded as the first music video shot on an iPhone 3GS. The song by XFYA accompanies the plight of a little blue robot and his attempt to be relevant in an increasingly technological world. Pretty cool video. Check it out:
