There are already tons of web address shortening services. Despite all of these, here is another service on this field: appsto.re. This one is for iTunes apps, a dedicated service. TechCrunch dug out this news:
What Appsto.re does is let you take those long URLs and turn them into custom links such as http://appsto.re/AreYouAMoron and … no that’s basically all it does, even if the team that built the app felt the service actually required its own manifesto. For something that can already be done with the tons of other URL shortening services out there.
And the someone told TechCrunch that iPhone apps already have short URLs, e.g. http://itunes.com/apps/scavenge.:)

Apple has been lately criticized by few top iPhone app developers for not doing enough to make sure that better and popular apps show up on top somehow. Amid this criticism, this week Apple took the first few steps to help AppStore work better for apps that are popular and downloaded more often. AppleInsider has made some interesting observations:
As part of this new grouping, the Cupertino-based company has also separated the most popular Free Apps — which previously dominated the most popular listings — from most popular Paid Apps, breaking each out into separate sidebar modules that flank the general listings for each category. In addition, the new layout is more consistent in design with the AppStore application on the iPhone

Remember, there was a time when Apple went on rejecting apps for unknown reasons. At times apps were rejected just because Apple felt it wasnt worthwhile. Things seem to be changing now. Apple is changing the way they accept-reject apps. There was this iPhone app called “Pull My Finger” was banned from the App Store because of having “limited utility.” Today, the application became available to the masses [AppStore Link].
According to a MacRumors, Apple has decided to broaden its offerings on the App Store, and will now include the application. Here is what the developer of Pull My Finger had to say:
[Apple] told me that they are going to start approving a whole new “genre” of apps, and that Pull My Finger will be the first to be accepted in this genre. As of now Pull My Finger is available in the app store.
The very kind Apple Team Member told me that they didn’t want to reject it originally, but that they were sorting out how this “genre” of apps were going to be handled. She told me they’d be lifting the restriction on them, and more apps will follow that may have been previously not allowed.
