Warning - iPhone 2.0 Firmware - Don’t update now, nor update iTunes 7.7

Yes, If you have an unlocked iPhone, please dont set your iTunes to automatically look of updates and install. Basically do not upgrade iTunes 7.7 nor iPhone 2.0 firmware which is going to be released anytime now. Bigboss says that the Installer.app might completely get ruined. Here is what he has to say:

Yep, 2.0 is just around the corner. Could be pushed by iTunes anytime now. My recommendation: wait, do not upgrade yet.  Even though it is expected for the dev team to have a jailbreak ready the same day, you need to be aware of what you will lose:

1) All current apps will stop working. Everything needs to be rewritten for 2.0.  If you are using any 3rd party apps and like them, you will lose them.

2) Currently, there are no themes available on 2.0. We will need a port of summerboard or freeboard for this.

Please wait for some more days, before you actually update your firmwares.

BigBoss Accessory Store opened

The boss of Installer.app, BigBoss has opened his own store. Not many products on display yet, but surely it would have many more to come. Here is what he has to say:

We have opened a really cool accessory store where you can get some cheap iPhone accessories. My favorite is the iPhone Portable Power Station which more than doubles the battery life or your iPhone.

Well, Bigboss has an answer to this issue. By the way, did you know that even if you hit ‘Restore iPhone’ from your iTunes or from your iPhone settings, iPhone never removes every data from the system. This is a bug in iPhone V1 and there is many ways to restoring back sensitive data from iPhone post the restore.

Anyways here is what bigboss has to say:

Developer NerveGas has released an iPhone wiper. This will let you completely wipe your device prior to say selling it so that you don’t have to worry about someone extracting your prior data. The app comes with a readme so read it for instructions. You can get it here.
