More evidence that Apple might be prototyping an iPod nano with a camera

MIC Gadget says that there is a shutter/overexposure problem with the 1.3 Megapixel camera shutter that Apple is working on and they expect a April time frame release.

According to our factory sources, Apple have problems with the lens aperture for the next-gen iPod nano, the iris is not functioning correctly to allow the advantages of the low aperture to be utilized. Every shot was overexposed. Apple intends to correct its mistake, but the problem still exists in this prototype that is manufactured two months ago. What’s more, a 2-megapixel camera was tested, but it was unsatisfactory — the photos look washed-out and flat.

9to5Mac.com has covered this news as well and goes on to say that, more evidence that Apple was (is?) prototyping an iPod nano with a camera on the back and the accompanying hole on the clip.

Leaked by the Japanese blog Apple.pro, which leaked a similar set of images in April of last year, the new shots further indicate that Apple could be working (or at least was researching at some point), a next-generation iPod nano with an alleged 1.3-megapixel camera on its back, while still keeping the current model’s size and display.

The clip hole looks very similar to an Apple patent filing published in May 2011, with one of the drawings depicting a belt clip with a hole in the exactly same place as on these spy shots.

Awesome! ADR Studios have created this new ‘iCam’ concept

9to5Mac shared this really cool iPhone camera concept called iCam. The guys at ADR Studios have created a new ‘iCam’ concept imagining a separate accessory that would turn the iPhone 5 into a full-fledged point-and-shoot. This ADR’s concept would include a 10.1 megapixel sensor and provide an “ISO range from 100 to 3200 (extendable up to 6400 equivalent)” for full HD at 60fps.

Imagined specs for the accessory include an aluminum unibody, interchangeable lenses, a small touch-screen on the front, LED flash, pico-projector, SD UHS-i slot, motion sensor, and bluetooth. We’re guessing a few companies are already at work on an similar accessory after seeing these gorgeous mock ups.

Phone 4S Moves To 2nd Position On Flickr Top Camera List

iPhone 4S has become the 2nd most popular camera phone on Flickr. In just 5 weeks since iPhone 4S launch, Apple has passed the only Android phone in the top five, the HTC Evo 4G, as well as the iPhone 3G and 3GS. And the first is iPhone 4 which has been there for over 16 months and is the most popular camera.

The iPhone 4S uses a back-illuminated, CMOS Sony sensor that’s strong in low light and color-accurate. It’s also ideal for macros through a wider f2.4 aperture and a five-piece lens element that improves sharpness and helps cut back on fringe distortion.

iPhone’s Camera Has Come A Long Long Way

Gizmodo shared Camera+ founder Lisa Bettany’s photos showing photo taken from iPhone original, 3, 3G, 4, and 4S camera side by side. Pretty interesting, it shows how iPhone camera has improved. Note that the original iPhone looks very blurry. Now the iPhone 4S has point-and-shoot quality with awesome lighting.

When the first iPhone came out, the camera was an afterthought, only tossed in to feature match its competitors. Fast forward four years and it’s an entirely different story, Apple has made it a point of emphasis and the camera in the iPhone 4S sh-sh-sh-shines.

Sushi clicked with an iPhone 5’s 8 megapixel camera

Found this really smart photo on PocketNow, the photo claims to have been taken by an iPhone 4 but the rest of the EXIF data suggests otherwise. Although the image has been cropped to 2235×2291 (5.12 megapixels), the original picture was a much larger 3264×2448 — or just shy of eight megapixels. What’s more, the lens was recorded as a 4.3mm f/2.4, which is closer to that of a point-and-shoot than the iPhone’s actual 3.85mm f/2.8.

This shot was supposedly taken by an Apple engineer while eating lunch at work. Here is the original photo from Flickr which was, surprise surprise, uploaded by Anton D’Auria who is a software engineer at Apple who works on Safari and WebKit for iOS

Take a look at iPhone 5’s 8MP Camera

“The two companies are reported to continue supplying lenses for Apple’s newest iPhone 5 with an 8-megapixel camera. With relatively higher production yield, Largan, commanding nearly 20% of the global market, will reportedly garner a big order from Apple.”

9to5Mac went to say that, Genius and Largan both supplied Apple with lens modules for the iPhone 4, whose orders even took Genius out of operating losses into profitability. Today’s report claims the two companies will compete and work together as they continue to share Apple has one of their largest customers for the upcoming next-gen iPhone.

iOS 5 camera brings 5 awesome new features

WWDC 2001 keynote talked about iOS 5 camera features in detail. Totally 5 new features have been added to iOS 5 camera

  • In iOS 5 you can now make use of the volume up button in order to go ahead and take pictures.
  • You can also edit photos directly on your device by using the built in photo editor.
  • You can can crop, rotate, reduce red-eye and it even has a one-click enhancement button should you choose to go that route.
  • iOS 5 bring a lock screen shortcut for image taking but keeps all your already existing photos safe and secure from viewing.
  • Auto-focus and auto-exposure settings has been improved further. In iOS 5, you can pinch-to-zoom right in the app, and if you hold on a part of the photo you can then adjust the exposure settings on just that portion alone.

Is this that alleged iPhone 5 case that is built for iPhone 5 to be launched by September 2011

Looks like iPhone 5 might have a repositioned LED flash. It might move to top-right side. Its going to take another 4 to 5 months for an iPhone 5 launch to happen, but case leaks can happen much earlier right :)9to5Mac shared few images of purported iPhone 5 camera parts over the weekend.

If this one is genuine — and we never know until Apple shows the actual, final iPhone off on stage — it seems to show the LED flash has been relocated from its iPhone 4 spot beside the camera to the opposite side of the back plate. The back camera sensor also appears to have a re-design but is lacking two critical elements from the iPhone 4?s piece: the LED camera flash and the piece that blocks camera/flash interference.

Apple patent shows forward facing camera

iPad will surely have front facing camera in the near future. AppleInsider shared a new Apple patent that was published by the US Patent and Trademark Office yesterday – A newly revealed Apple patent application shows plans for superior picture and video recording performance on portable devices, and also depicts a handheld device with a forward facing camera.

The application revealed this week, entitled “Apparatus and Method for Compensating for Variations in Digital Cameras,” notes that the current manufacturing process for digital video cameras is inconsistent and often results in flaws. Camera modules are manufactured separately as independent units before they are incorporated into a larger device, such as an iPhone or iPod.

Rumor: iPhone 4th Gen Will Come With 5MP Camera

iPhoneRumorRocks: The latest rumor making rounds is that the new iPhone (4th Gen) that might be launched by mid 2010 will feature a 5MP camera. If that comes true, I will be the first to pick it up :) . Coming to this news; the 5MP CMOS image sensors have been ordered from OmniVision Technologies – which also makes the 3.2MP sensors for the iPhone 3GS. Taiwanese sources are saying that OmniVision expects to ship 40-45 million image sensors for Apple’s iPhone in 2010 – and that obviously means Apple hopes to sell this (impressive) number of iPhones next year.

OmniVision snatched 3.2-megapixel CIS orders for Apple’s iPhone 3GS, beating out Aptina Imaging which supplies the 2-megapixel CIS solution for the iPhone 3G.

Including orders for iPods, the sources estimated OmniVision’s total shipments to Apple at around 65 million units in 2009. OmniVision is set to raise its CIS wafer starts at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) around the beginning of first-quarter 2010, according to the sources.
