Engadget have chosen their Top 10 Gadgets of the dacade and Apple has nabbed 4 slots. Here is what Engadget had to say, followed by those 4 Apple products:
In just ten years time, gadgets have touched almost every aspect of our daily lives, and personal technology has come into its own in a way never before seen. It’s a decade that’s been marked the ubiquity of the internet, the downfall of the desktop, and the series finale of Friends, but we’ve boiled it down to the ten devices we’ve loved the most and worked the hardest over the past ten years.
PowerBook G4 (Titanium) (2001)
Mac OS X (2000)
iPod (2001)
iPhone (2007)
Interestingly Mac OS X has shared its space with the Windows XP as a co-gadget of the decade. As per Engadget, both the OSs provided fresh and clean restarts.
Remember iControPad, the external gamepad controller for iPod Touch and iPhone? iControlPad might start shipping these innovative gamepad controls very soon. Though these accessories look pretty weird, there are quite a few serious iPhone Games who would love have this accessory. Check out this video:
Over to Zodd who have been helping iControlPad team to make this a reality:
Here’s a new video of the iControlPad playing quake4iphone! The iControlPad team and I are in the final stretch now before getting this product in your hands. It’s been a long wait, I know. The iControlPad team has been very busy with their massive Pandora project getting ready to go into production as well. Not to mention the holidays, as well as me being sick for a few weeks, didn’t help any in terms of productivity.
Edgadget rates this ‘Fastmac’s iV’ to be the best of all iPhone backup batteries till date. This battery charger costs $79 and can charge your iPhone 5 times faster. Here is what Fastmac has to say – The iV is an on-the-go mobile battery charger that allows you to continue using your iPhone even as you charge it. In addition to the 30-pin Dock Connector port used for charging and syncing your iPhone, the iV also has a full-size USB port that can simultaneously charge another device such as a Bluetooth headset, digital camera, iPod or even another phone. The iV also includes a built-in flash LED that can be used for emergencies and low light photos/ videos.
Engadget – We’ve seen plenty of case-like backup batteries for the iPhone 3G the past few months, but Fastmac’s iV could be the best in its class due to all the its features.
Its 3100mAh battery can charge the phone about five times from 20% capacity to 80% capacity, and in absolute terms, it’s the most amount of juice in any backup battery iPhone case out there now. The USB port, at the bottom, allows you to charge an extra device on the road (maybe your Bluetooth headset) at the same time as the iPhone.

fsjk85 at the Australian Whirlpool forums was playing around with his camcorder’s NightShot function when he found something interesting — a hidden data matrix code on the left side of the iPhone 3G.
Engadget has this amazing coverage of iPhone 3G features, questions, clarifications, queries, issues, etc. that people had all this while. Its clear and very simply put together. A must read for all iPhone enthusiasts. Here is the excerpts:
So, what’s with the new iPhone 3G?
Well, it’s pretty much the same iPhone as before — except now it’s down to $200, and has way faster 3G data, A-GPS (which is even better than regular GPS), as well as a flush headphone jack (which is great for anyone who doesn’t want to use Apple’s bundled headphones).
How’d they get the price so low? The iPhone used to be crazy expensive.
Actually, depending on how you do the math it’s not actually cheaper. Now, in some countries the iPhone is free when you sign up for service, and in the US you’ll pay $200 for the 8GB model
I heard you can’t activate the iPhone at home anymore, is that true?
This is still a little fuzzy. Here’s the deal: with the first iPhone, Apple used to let you buy it in the store and take it home to activate. This process is unlike almost every other phone on the market, but since it’s Apple, and because you were paying full price for the device, if you never activated it with AT&T or just unlocked it and sent it to your friend in China or whatever, it wasn’t a big deal.
This is just too cool. To read the complete coverage, click here or go to Engadget now. Thanks Engadget, you guys are just amazing.
Well this might be very well true. We might not see 8GB iPhones any more. It would be replaced by 3G iPhones which might even be GPS enabled and would be launched as early as early June. Engadget has reported this news and here is what it says -
According to an internal O2 memo we’ve received, stock of both the 8GB iPod touch and iPhone have run their courses, and have been EOL’d (at least in the UK). The brief letter sent out yesterday evening states that, “Due to the highly successful sales of the Apple 8GB I-Phone [sic], supply chain have today run out of stock & will not be replenishing stock of this product as it has now gone to end of life.”
Hi, I have been using this awesome invention called the Apple iPhone from November 2007 and have gone nutzzz over it. Nuts to an extent that I started this blog which talks just about iPhone and nothing else.
This blog of mine has been getting tremendous response and is being followed by all kinds of mobile phone users from all over the globe. Most of the traffic comes from the US and Europe. Thank you all for making this blog a success :)
