Quick Update: Globally there was a 37.2% growth in smartphone shipment in 2009. And iPhone saw a jump of 97.9% during the same period. AppleInsider reported this news – Analyst Charlie Wolf with Needham & Company told clients that the smartphone market has turned into a “land grab” that’s “virtually certain” to lead to a brutal battle between Microsoft and Google.
He said Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 Series won’t kill the iPhone, which exists in a class by itself, but it will be a potential “Android killer.” Windows Phone 7 Series, Wolf said, is evidence that Microsoft “finally gets it.”
I know this one is kind of stale news. But I still want to make a note of this. Morgan Stanley’s Internet analyst Mary Meeker shared her annual data where she focused on this years growth prospects of the mobile space. Man, you got to check out these 2 slides to get a hand of what I am trying to share. And Techcrunch has shared this mindblowing info:
You can see her full slide show below (all 68 of them), but let me pull out the three iPhone slides that helps put its growth into perspective. The first one above shows the growth of data traffic on AT&T’s mobile network. It is 50 times higher than it was just three years ago. I added two arrows to show when the first iPhone launched in June, 2007 and the iPhone 3G in July 2008.
Hi, I have been using this awesome invention called the Apple iPhone from November 2007 and have gone nutzzz over it. Nuts to an extent that I started this blog which talks just about iPhone and nothing else.
This blog of mine has been getting tremendous response and is being followed by all kinds of mobile phone users from all over the globe. Most of the traffic comes from the US and Europe. Thank you all for making this blog a success :)
