Apple PR today clearly announced (via CNN) that it will not distribute porn or any other inappropriate content through App Store – From Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr:
Apple will not distribute applications that contain inappropriate content, such as pornography. The developer of this application added inappropriate content directly from their server after the application had been approved and distributed, and after the developer had subsequently been asked to remove some offensive content. This was a direct violation of the terms of the iPhone Developer Program. The application is no longer available on the App Store.
This puts a full stop to Hottest Girls iPhone app. Bye bye.. and bye in advance to all future soft porn apps that were planning to go live on App Store.

The first iPhone porn app Hottest Girls [$1.99, App Store] wasnt available on App Store for a day or so after being approved by Apple. Blogs like Cultofmac and TechCrunch reported this news stating that Apple has again blocked these kind of apps after approving them. Note this Cultofmac post:
The softcore app, Hottest Girls, was downloadable for a few hours on Thursday, but is now unavailable. Neither Apple nor the developer were immediately available to provide an explanation, but it appears Apple changed its mind after the app received so much press attention on Thursday.

And then there were slew of updates, stating that Hottest Girls app wasnt removed by Apple at all. The developer of this porn app actually thanked the image server for serving so many requests. They said that the App is still working who had downloaded it.
“The server usage is extremely high because of the popularity of this app,” says the developer. “Thus, by not distributing the app, we can prevent our servers from crashing.” The app still works for those who have already bought it, the developer says.
The app was available on App Store some time back. But again I am not able to find this app on US iTunes. Crazy. Here is the App Store link.

Apple has finally decided that with the new parental controls now built into the iPhone 3.0, nudity can now be approved in App Store. The first app to have nude pictures is Hottest Girls [$1.99, App Store link]. This app is not new, its always been there, but has been updated and has added girls in bikinis and lingerie to topless girls.
Macenstein shared this bit of info – “We uploaded nude topless pics today. This is the first app to have nudity,” writes Hottest Girls’ developer Allen Leung, in what can only be described as an announcement rivaling the first transmissions from the moon landing in importance.

Here is how Parental Controls in iPhone works:
Parental restrictions can be turned on in Settings -> General -> Restrictions in your iPhone. If an App falls outside of the allowed rating they will simply disappear off your home screen. Once you turn the restrictions off again, the affected apps reappear.
Hottest Girls does carry a 17+ Rating for “Frequent/Intense Sexual Content or Nudity” and “Frequent/Intense Mature/Suggestive Themes”.
