is going to be launched all over India on 22nd August i.e., tomorrow. All those Features that we have been talking about all these months will now be available to iPhone enthusiasts in India as well. But there are these 3 Prominent Features that we wouldn’t be able to use here in India.

  1. iPhones users in India won’t get support for visual voicemail, one of the ’s standout feature. might bring this sometime later.
  2. Access to videos and music sold on the iTunes Store will not be available. Only AppStore will be available to Indian users.
  3. 3G is not yet active in India, might be available by this December, provided the Govt opens 3G bidding & approves the 3G players asap. Till then no 3G access on iPhone for Indian users. There would be EDGE which is a little better than dialup internet connection.
I have been using EDGE on iPhone 1st Gen from past few months in India, and must say, its pretty good. Works without any hitch. But since its too slow, I prefer using WIFI when I am in a wifi zone.

Another big big issue might face in India would surely be the PRICE. It will not be a mass project @ 31k. But surely a Status Symbol. So lets get kicking guys…
[As someone says, if you want to be a part of the APPLE CULT, buy this phone]

There is no contract commitment from either or . But the phone will be locked to the service provider. So if you buy from , you can only use SIM, same with SIM. And if you are going abroad, you cannot swap SIMs and use any SIM. You will have to stick to / and keep paying international roaming charges. Better to carry 2 phones when on International roaming.

WELCOME TO INDIA :))

Its going to cost  Rs. 31,000 ($735) for 8GB, while the 16 GB version will cost between Rs. 36,000 ($855) and 37,000.

I hope this doesn’t come true. Simply because so many of us have been waiting for the launch and expecting the price to be below Rs.24,000. And this comes as a shock to many. I would still wait for an official pricing release on either or website.

iPhone 3G in India would cost Rs.13,000 ($310) - to be launched on 18 Aug.

I shared this bit of information from Tech2.com last weekend and now comes another one from the same website. Tech2.com is a part of Network 18 group in India and is provides pretty authentic news. This one though is not fully confirmed by these guys, but still I would love to see iPhone being sold for Rs.13000 ($310) in India. Here is what Tech2.com has to say:

Some more info to come floating out of the rumor mill is that the price of the phone bundled with will be around Rs 13,000 for the 8GB model. My common sense says to believe this rumor only when it’s confirmed, because it does seem too low a price for the bundled with a plan.

Just a while back, I got this mail from India, with the subject ‘The iPhone you’ve been waiting for‘.

When I opened the mail, I felt ecstatic. This is what I got to see:

iPhone model
iPhone3G logo
The iphone you've been waiting for.
Coming soon at exclusive Airtel stores in your city. Book your iPhone now.
Book your iPhone now.

But when I clicked on ‘Book your iPhone now’, I was completely disappointed. The same form which asked me to fill up the details turned up. It was just a form and there was no mention of how to book the iPhone. Nor was there any mention of date of release or any price info.

, we all are waiting for iPhone rate and plan details. Are you listning?
