QuickPwn 2.1 for Window Released

iPhoneDevTeam have released the windows version of QuickPwn. QuickPwn can unlock and jailbreak iPhone 1st gen devices. But if you are on 3G version, don’t install QuickPwn. You will have to wait for Pwnage to update QuickPwn and WinPwn to support unlocking of iPhone 3G. Here is what their blog has to say:

QuickPwn Supports 2.1 firmware with the unlocking and jailbreaking of iPhone 1st generation (2G) device. Your device will need to be upgraded to 2.1 (using iTunes before running this application.

iPhone Dev Team have updated their blog with this post “QuickPwn - fake sites“. As per these guys - there are lots of fake sites using the QuickPwn name, these muppets don’t know anything special, and they don’t have anything unique. 

As we’ve mentioned before we don’t accept donations and we certainly don’t allow ads on our site, anyone who asks for donations in our name is lying, end of story.

This was very quick iPhoneDevTeam. This time you guys jailbroke 2.1 firmware within 24hrs. I guess this is great news for all those iPhone 1st Gen users. But still, iPhone 3G is not unlockable using this Pwnage, WinPwn or QuickPwn software. So if you are on 3G version and want to unlock it, this will be of no help. But if you are on older version, go for this. Though there are few bugs that users are facing while using this 2.1version on iPhone, there are quite a few solutions - mentioned in these comments section on iPhoneDevTeam’s blog.

Let me quickly get to the point. If you are looking to upgrade your older firmware version to 2.1, follow these steps:

Here are the new versions of PwnageTool and QuickPwn that support the 2.1 firmware.  And as we just mentioned, iTunes was not harmed in the process no patching was required.

This does not address the new iPod Touch 2G device released this week.  Partly because none of us even have one yet

iPhone Dev Team have released Pwnage 2.0.3 jailbreaking software for iPhone. This version has the following new features:

• Support for iPhone/iPod touch firmware 2.0.2 5C1
• Updated version of Installer.app beta 6
• New .de localization for German speaking users

Here is what iPhone Dev Team has to say:

The application SHOULD ONLY be downloaded as a .tbz file from our servers and should NOT be decompressed using the application called “the unarchiver” (this breaks permissions within PwnageTool) just use the standard OS X built in ‘Archive Utility’ to decompress.

QuickPwn released by iPhone Dev Team - No Need for iTunes-Based Restore

QuickPwn complements WinPwn/PwnageTool. This has been released by iPhone Dev Team to reduce the hassle of needing iTunes to rebuild/restore your device afterwards. Here is how this sub-app works:

iPhone Dev Team says that it’s a tool that will make jailbreaking a phone more quickly and easily, without requiring a full restore. It’s more convenient because you do not need to make a full IPSW and use iTunes with it, but your phone still ends up pwned and jailbroken.

Currently QuickPwn requires your device to be running version 2.0.1 of the iPhone/iPod firmware. This requirement will change in a subsequent release.

Installer.app V4 released along with Pwnage 2.0.2

All those JailBroken 1st Gen iPhone fans who have been missing installer.app (similar to AppStore), need not wait any longer. Installer.app version 4 now comes bundled with Pwnage 2.0.2. For those who have no idea about Pwnage and happy with locked iPhones, Pwnage is the unlocking and jailbreaking software used to unlock any locked iPhone so that it works with any SIM anywhere in the world. Coming back to Pwnage 2.0.2 release. TUAW had this to say - The iPhone-dev team recommends using the built in updater to get the latest version … “Check for Updates” in your current version of PwnageTool. If you don’t have luck with that, there are mirrors posted in the release announcement, along with notes regarding Installer.app/Cydia.

The iPhone Dev Team, which is the team behind this software has this to say:

Installer 4 Beta is included, it is added in any mode by default. The main installer package management interface within PwnageTool isn’t enabled yet, and will report that installer.app isn’t available, but the actual Installer.app package is added as a default option in both modes.

The latest Cydia is also enabled by default

Again Pwnage guys have found that iPhone users are still facing issues with WinPwn 2.0.0.2, since its release 2 days back. So here comes 2.0.0.3, which promises to get rid of all the bugs and easily unlock iPhone 3G using windows OS. Try this one if you haven’t been able to unlock your iPhones using the previous version of WinPwn.

NOTE: 2.0.0.3 fixes the Ipwner crash problem and 16xx errors. It will also fix the iPod ipswBuilder failure bug.

WinPwn has been updated - WinPwn 2.0.0. If the previous version on WInPwn 2.0 (iPhone 3G unlocking software for windows) din’t work for you, this version might just work. Here is how to go about unlocking your iPhone 3G if you are on windows. Also, find the steps to uninstall WinPwn 2.0, if you have already tried it earlier:

- Support for both 1.1.4 and 2.0

- 3g iPhone support
- Support for WinXP and Vista 32/64bit. Note Windows 2003/2008 server (Yes SERVER) are not supported

Notes:

- You MUST do a full uninstall of winpwn before installing the new version
- Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes ( Currently 7.7)
- WinPwn uses 300MB of ram at peak due to the ipsw being extracted in memory
- You must first click browse and load an IPSW to use WinPwn (i thought this was clear)
- For 2.0 only the *5A347_Restore.ipsw files are valid. The 345 image will not work
- If you see Failed to load image catalog/payload catalog, this is fine and won’t cause problems
- If you already have service with AT&T do not activate or install Youtube Fix.
