Unlocked iPhones Cannot Be Upgraded To 3.0 OS As Yet – But Jailbroken iPhones Can Be Upgraded

If you are using a Jailbroken iPhone 3G or 1st Gen, you can go ahead and upgrade your iPhone to OS 3.0. Quite a few iPhone users on jailbroken iPhones have upgraded their iPhones to 3.0 and have just lost their Installer and Cydia apps in the process. But the risk is there. The new version will remove the jailbreak, and it will go back to original state. But it wont brick the phone. You can continue to use your iPhone with 3.0.
But if you are on an Unlocked iPhone, DONT UPGRADE your phone to 3.0 yet. Wait for iPhone Dev Team to release latest versions of quickPWN and Pwnage tools – Keep checking blog.iphone-dev.org.
In few more days iPhone Dev Team will release the latest version of Ultrasn0w which will unlock iPhone 3G as well. Got to just wait for few more days.
