Yes, this was just the news I was waiting for. Pwnage (iPhoneDevTeam) have released their first software that can easily unlock 2.0 firmware and iPhone 3G. This is just awesome. Here is how to do unlock your iPhone 3G (users who have upgraded their 1st Gen iPhones to 2.0 firmware can unlock it as well)

Please download the software from Here. Unzip it, Install and follow the instructions and you are good to go

iPhoneDevTeam - Update 1: Just to clear up some confusion over what this actually does: yes, it jailbreaks and unlocks older iPhones, and jailbreaks iPhone 3Gs and iPod Touches. We only support the 2.0 firmwares.

Update 2: It looks like there aren’t enough TCP ports on that server, so _BigBoss_ has generously offered to mirror it.

Update 3: If you get Error 1600 from iTunes (or if you see in your log a failure to prepare x12220000_4_Recovery.ipsw), try: mkdir “~/Library/iTunes/Device Support” ;  if that directory already exists, remove any files in it.  Then re-run PwnageTool.

In summary Pwnage software supports:
iPhone (1st Gen) with 2.0 - Activated, Unlocked & Jailbroken, (with support for third party applications).
iPod Touch with 2.0 - Activated & Jailbroken, (with support for third party applications).
iPhone (3G) with 2.0 - Activated, Jailbroken (with support for third party applications).

Pwnage 2.0 has be updated and re-released as 2.0.1

N.B: if PwnageTool 2.0 pwned your phone correctly the first time, you do not need to pwn again with 2.0.1.

Pwnage for windows - winpwn launched

All this while pwnage, the revolutionary unlocking tool for iPhone was only for Macs. But this morning the guys  behind this rocking tool have lauched winpwn, pwnage for windows. Its not fully ready yet but looks promising. It supports iPhone on 2.0 only which hasnt yet been released.

How does this winpwn works?
There is 2 parts of the pwnage hack. First part being the actual “pwn” which flashes a custom bootloader. This will allow you to load modified ipsw files (i.e ones that have custom logos and have already been jailbroken). Second part is the IPSW Builder which lets you customize your ipsws

I hope to see this winpwn working on 1.1.4 soon.

The Pwnage team is really working hard. These guys have released the new version Pwnage 1.1 and with this comes the support to add custom packages. Here is list of changes and new feature list:
