If you have any doubts, check this screenshot leaked by BGR last evening. Best Buy Canada Rogers/Fido will sell Off-Contract iPhone 3G S in Canada for $699/$799.

If you convert CAD $699 into Indian Rupee, it comes to approximately Rs.31,000. And I am sure Apple will not sell 8GB iPhones in India. There’s only going to be 16GB and 32GB iPhone 3GS available in India.

So, dont expect Rs.15,000 iPhone to be launched by Airtel/Vodafone on the 9th of August 2009. Nothing less than Rs.29,000 I would say.

I am not too sure if this news on Tech2.com is fully confirmed, but SSS who is a member on this blog, has just shared this breaking news. Tech2 has just shared the iPhone 3G pricing that’s going to be launched in India on the 22nd Aug. Its going to cost  Rs. 31,000 ($735) for 8GB, while the 16 GB version will cost between Rs. 36,000 ($855) and 37,000.

I hope this doesn’t come true. Simply because so many of us have been waiting for the launch and expecting the price to be below Rs.24,000. And this comes as a shock to many. I would still wait for an official pricing release on either Airtel or Vodafone website.

Here is what Tech2 has to say:

Well, that’s about to change now as we’ve received official pricing for the most-awaited phone. The 8 GB version of the iPhone 3G will cost Rs. 31,000, while the 16 GB version will cost between Rs. 36,000 and 37,000. These prices are not inclusive of the plan these phones will come bundled with.
