Does your iPhone 3G get sluggish after a while? QuickFix now
Posted on 2008 under Software Fixes | 3 CommentsQuite a few iPhone 3G users who are on 2.1 firmware might be facing this issue. iPhone 3G responds lightning fast for the first few days of its purchase. And then things start slowing down. As new apps keep getting added to the springboard, the speed at which iPhone responds also keeps slowing down. There is a definite fix for this very issue. iPhone is just like your laptop, if you don’t switch off your laptop for days and keep it on, what happens. You will have to restart your computer to get back that much needed free memory. The same way, you will have do a few things to keep your iPhone’s response time optimum.

Please note that there is no issue with the iPhone OS. It’s just that iPhone too need a few restarts regularly. Here are a list of things you can do to optimize your iPhone’s response time:
- Memory Leaks - This happens when iPhone is kept ON all the time. If you feel that your iPhone shuts down when you press Power button, you are mistaken. iPhone just goes to sleep mode, but it doesn’t shut down. You should do this every 2-3 days if you are using iPhone apps daily or atleast once a week if you use iPhone sparingly – HOLD POWER BUTTON AND HOME BUTTON FOR 6-9 SECONDS. THE “SLIDE TO SWITCH OFF” SLIDER WILL THEN SHOWS UP. Switch off your iPhone and the press the power button for 1-2 seconds and restart your iPhone.
————- - Force Close Apps which are used often - If you use few apps often, force close that app once a while. This is how to force close app – START AN APP. WAIT FOR 4-7 SECONDS. HOLD THE HOME BUTTON FOR 6-9 SECONDS. The app will be forced to shut.
————- - Empty Safari cache - This should be done regularly if you are browse a lot on iPhone. GO TO SETTINGS > SAFARI > HIT CLEAR CACHE.
Hopefully these measures would help speed up iPhone…
