How many times you have tried searching a specific type of app on AppStore that you have been looking for and haven’t been able to find it. Even though you know there are thousands of apps and some would fit your requirement, you still can’t find it simply because AppStore is not that efficient in helping you find the right app.

has this post of finding the right app on AppStore - While users can view a list of the most recently uploaded apps, the list can be overwhelming and unorganized. Most users rely on the “Top Apps” lists, which do seem to change often, but these tend to consist mainly of games and “fun” apps that aren’t particularly useful. And these guys found GotApps, a simple site that launched earlier this week, is offering users an alert system for the App Store that hopes to streamline the application discovery process. Here is what GotApps is all about:

Instead of manually searching, users can enter a number of keywords and categories they would like to receive notifications for. Then, every hour, the site searches through the titles and descriptions of the most recently uploaded apps, and sends an Email whenever it gets a match. Of course, keyword searching only helps if you know what you’re looking for, so users looking to find the best new applications without anything specific in mind will need to look elsewhere.

To create alerts, check out this page on GotApps.

This seems to be a great idea for all those Native App Developers who have been waiting desperately to display their apps to the press and world at large before the App Store’s formal launch. has a great idea. Here is what they have to say - Apple is putting a lot of pressure on application developers not to demo their apps until the App Store is live, so there is going to be a ton of press on the launch day talking about new applications.

We () have a better idea, though, to really help developers get the word out on launch day. Create a short video demo of your application and submit it to us below along with a description, link to the product, etc. (use either the iPhone emulator or just point a video camera at an iPhone to record the video). We’ll hold the information under embargo until the day the App Store launches and you are free to publicize the application. Then we’ll feature the best ones on and point to an directory on CrunchBase where readers can view the demos and download the apps they like.
