Apple is recalling iPhone defective USB adapters. TUAW has published this image of the adapter which would help users to find out if their adapter is defective.

TUAW says - Check to see if your adapter has a green dot like the one pictured here; if so it is already up-to-date and does not need replacement.
To exchange your defective USP - click here. Exchanges begin on October 10, both online and in person at Apple retail stores.

Found this interesting post on TUAW asking iPhone Developers to develop a iPhone battery friendly app that could automatically switch of 3G, location services, wifi, bluetooth and push on click of a button and also would start these services when required by just clicking one button. This would just be the app that most of us have been waiting for. I seem to get around a day’s backup. But when I use safari or apps, it lasts me just over 3-5hrs. Here is Mike Davidson, CEO of Newsvine in Seattle idea which is published on TUAW
Can any iPhone developers build an iPhone power miser application that could turn off 3G, location services, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and push e-mail with one tap (low drain mode), then turn on all of the same services with another tap (full power mode).
I am waiting too..

TUAW had reported last week that AT&T started offering free WiFi to all its iPhone customers. But this service has been interupted all of a sudden. Check this message on TUAW;
AT&T offering free WiFi access for iPhone customers at several of their hotspot locations, including a few Starbucks stores. According to MacRumors, AT&T has disabled this free service. However, since AT&T never made an official announcement of this service, it seems possible that the free service was launched early (possibly for testing).

The following news on SDK release comes in from the most accredited iPhone News Blog - TUAW.
- Apple announced that they have licensed ActiveSync from Microsoft to enable full Exchange integration with the iPhone. The first thing you think of with ActiveSync is Push Email (that’s when email is sent to your iPhone as soon as it is received, as opposed to on a schedule like every 15 minutes). ActiveSync includes that as well as:
- Wireless calendar syncing
- Wireless contact syncing
- Remote wipe of the device if it is lost

- Apple to charge $99 for Developer Programme & software certificate - Be sure to set aside $99 to get your application onto the store however, as Ars Technica reports “Developers have to register with [Apple]. For that $99, we give them an electronic certificate that tells us who they are …. if they write a bad app, we can both track them down and we can turn off the app’s distribution”. In addition to the $99 licensing charge to distribute the application (whether it’s a free or commercial app) companies seeking a proprietary solution will need to cough up another $200 ($299 total) for the ‘Enterprise Programme’.
The paid-for Developer Programme is currently US-only “and will expand to other countries in the coming months.”

- Apple shows off iPhone gaming chops - First up, a team inside of Apple cooked up “Touch Fighter,” which appears to be a kind of space-based shooter that you steer by tilting and aim by pointing. The game is 3D and uses OpenGL graphics. Next up was Travis Boatman from EA who showed an iPhone version of the eagerly-awaited game Spore (also shipping for Macs later this year). Finally, Ethan Einhorn from Sega showed off a build of Super Monkey Ball, naturally also using tilt controls.

- The iPhone App Store - Available in the iPhone 2.0 software update, the App Store will allow for easy navigation of both paid and free apps; Featured, Just Added, Staff Favorites, Most Popular … it’s basically an iPhone version of Apple Downloads. You’ll be able to search, tap and download applications wirelessly to your iPhone (and iPod touch for a nominal fee) via WiFi or cellular. You’ll also be able to install apps via iTunes. Developers will be able to sell their apps in the App Store, and can set their own price. They’ll receive a monthly payment of 70% of sales, with 30% going to Apple for their credit card, hosting and marketing services. There are no additional costs for listing apps, after the $99 setup fee.

- iPhone SDK - What you need to know - what you need to build your next, earth shattering, application for the iPhone and iPod touch:
* Mac OS X Leopard
* An Intel-based Mac (sorry, PowerPC folks — this one’s an Intel-only show)
* Xcode
* a free Apple iPhone developer account and the SDK itself — note that access to the SDK is not going to cost you ninety-nine bucks. It’s free, though getting the application approved and out onto devices will set you back the $99.

- BBC iPlayer Beta now available for iPhone - At the moment only the BBC-produced ‘Whistleblower’ documentary seems to be working from the iPlayer website, with content being streamed-only via the iPhone’s built-in QuickTime player

This is news… Austin Heap has revealed some Key on his website claiming it to the iPhone’s SDK key KEY. Check it out here - “188458A6D15034DFE386F23B61D43774 - that is all. more news later. rops @ the usual suspects…”
Here is what TUAW says - So what does this mean? Since all iPhone applications must be properly signed for iTunes to process them and for the iPhone to load them, this key suggests that hackers are closer to creating compliant IPA application bundles for home-brew iTunes distribution. With the proper key, developers can create and distribute applications that load through iTunes without Apple’s blessing.
